The Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) has implemented a revolutionary program in the Middle East, which will provide all students with an iPad for the 2012-2013 school year. The iPads will include simulation forms, a multilingual dictionary, and other means of high-tech explanatory video. Textbooks will now be e-books placed on the tablets, and assignments will be completed online.
Teachers will also receive tablets and be provided with further training to transition their teaching styles to incorporate the new technology. The initiative hopes to aid teachers in engaging students and advancing student participation. The United Arab Emirates and Malaysia hope to rally support throughout their nations, supporting the belief that individual nations must work to meet this international goal themselves.
“Transforming education is a dynamic process. Because education impacts everyone, the success of educational transformation depends on the level of involvement and support it receives from its main stakeholders,” said Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia.
